Pornography Ring Said Based in Quarter Studio
New Orleans (UPI) Police today sought a fourth suspect believed to be involved in a nationwide ring circulating pornographic photos of men.
A raid yesterday of a French Quarter apartment-studio resulted in the seizure of "thousands" of pornographic pictures of male models and three arrests.
Police said the place they raided, the Gentry Studio, appeared to be only one base for nation-wide operation. The Gentry Studio had subscribers from coast to coast and even in Australia, they said.
Booked with possession of pornographic material were Charles W. Gormley, 25, who came here from Atlanta, and two youths from Elyria, Ohio, Frank Meo, 20, and Edward C. Lotus, 17.
Gormley and Don Sheldon, both of whom occupied the raided apartment, were charged in criminal district court with possession of sexually indecent photographs with the intention to sell.
Sheldon, reportedly out of town, was being sought by police in another city. Officials here said they had sought the aid of out-of-town authorities but declined to say were.
Postal Inspector C. W. Campbell, who took part in the raid, said some evidence indicated pictures of nude men were being sent through the mails.
