Notes:
Joannis Adam Pfeiffer and Margaretha Böhm had four daughters with the name Anne or Anna. The reasoning used to determine which Anne Pfeiffer is our direct ancestor is as follows:
The marriage record (02-14-1792) of Hubert Juncker and Anna Nau states Anna Nau’s parents were Michael Nau and Anna Maria Pfeiffer. Their marriage record in turn (06-04-1765) gives their names as Michel Nau and Anne Pfeiffer. Lorentz Reeb was a witness to that marriage. He was the groom’s brother-in-law, meaning Lorentz Reeb married Anne Pfeiffer’s sister. Lorentz Reeb did marry Anne Marie Pfeiffer (05-24-1757).
Anna Maria Pfeiffer (born 04-29-1734) must have married Lorentz Reeb. She is the oldest daughter and had the earliest marriage (1757). Their marriage record gives her name as Anne Marie Pfeiffer.
Anna Pfeiffer (born 01-04-1738) died as an infant (12-20-1738).
Anne Margaritte Pfeiffer (born 11-25-1739) married Philippe Figel (02-24-1767). Their marriage record gives her name as Margueritte Pfeiffer. It was customary to call a child by their middle name.
Finally, Anne Pfeiffer (born 11-23-1741) is the last child named Anne. It was customary to name a later child after one who died earlier. By the process of elimination, she must have married Michael Nau (06-04-1765). The marriage record of Hubert Juncker and Anna Nau (02-14-1792), which gives her name as Anna Maria Pfeiffer, is either incorrect, or her middle name or first name was indeed Maria. That record (1792) is longer after the fact than her own marriage record (1765), which gives her name simply as Anne Pfeiffer. Her own marriage record (1765) is to be trusted more than the marriage record of her daughter (1792) since she was directly involved.

Marriage Notes
Dispensation: 17 May 1765, Metz, France; Dispensation for the impediment to marriage of fourth degree consanguinity 23
A dispensation was granted to Michel Nau and Anne Pfeiffer by the office of Louis-Joseph de Montmorency-Laval, the Bishop of Metz, France, dated May 17, 1765. The Roman Catholic Church prohibited marriage within the fourth degree of consanguinity (i. e., third cousins or closer). This dispensation allowed them to marry.
